I believe that there are other criteria that are problematic though. If you transition, any banked sperm or ova must be destroyed and transition surgery for FTM *must* involve removal of ovaries. So the sterilisation isn't just the result of SRS in this case, there's apparently a concerted effort in that legislation to ensure that trans people can't breed. Admittedly I haven't read through it very carefully but that's the impression I get.

thank you! It's fine so-far, and the response time on maps, fakebook, sms, camera and other things has gone from dead slow to really fast. My poor iPhone was doing its best but I really think that last OS update made it churn...

Yeah, I'm finding it fine thus-far, and anything that's been clunky has had an app to fix it. Haven't installed galaxy map yet, but will take a beak later :D

Yeah, I'm running 10.5 so the apps are needed... Also, I wanted to avoid syncing everything with gmail and do a direct sync to and from the mac. Why? Because I'm like that ;)

Also, while the free version of syncmate handled ical and contacts, I had to pay for the version that would do music as well, hence the use of doubletwist to do music. Slightly less elegant, but it works for now and I may fork out for a full license of syncmate if my partner wants to use their free phone as well as the license for 5 seats is less than two single seats :D

You don't actually need any apps to sync with your Mac if you are running 10.7 (and maybe 10.6). You can tell your Mac to sync your contacts with your GMail account in the Address Book and iCal preferences and you're good to go.

Welcome to the Dark Side, mwahahaa! ;)

Android's pretty good once you get used to it. I use Gmail and all the other Google apps and they're pretty solid. The only other app I've installed is Galaxy Map, which helps me make sense of those blobs in the sky ...

Well, the iphone is getting long in the tooth and is getting very very slow unfortunately. It's behaving occasionally oddly (Home button doesn't activate all the time, memory issues, etc). The casing has seen better days too. It's improved markedly since joining Telstra (yes, I know, but I finally decided that I preferred paying for a phone service I didn't have to stand in the middle of the road to get a signal). Basically, it's getting old and having a free brand spanking new phone is just incredibly tempting. For my partner, it's a major step-up. For me it'll be a sideways step... It's certainly not the end of the world. My argument is that I can sell this for money, but if I get such a paltry amount for it, I may as well keep it and use it than sell it for a couple of hundred which would just be burned away on frivolity...

But that's just me :D

What happened to your iPhone?
I'm still using my original iPhone 3G, and it still does all I want it to.
Been dropped a few times, but (thankfully) is still working. If it stopped working, I would buy another iPhone... but cannot afford to at the moment! Not enough 'paying days' ;O)

Some people seem to need to upgrade their phone as soon as their contract runs out (not saying for a second that you are this type of person). My sister is!! Her phones burn a hole in her handbag. I recently went around to see her, and she had a brand new touchscreen phone running Android. Don't remember what brand the phone was... as I really wasn't interested. Why did she spend so much on a new phone? She is not internet savvy, she never checks her email, she rarely uses the internet. But, nonetheless she has wasted money on an expensive phone, and is paying for a data plan that she doesn't need. If she had kept her old phone (which was still working perfectly) she would be saving a bunch of money. And she is regularly complaining about how she never has money! Oh well... I think I got a bit off topic here.

There's a middle place for it perhaps...the spare bike that gets used when you drag other people out for a trundle over the course of the net few glorious sunny months. You get use of it, they get use of it, you've learned new skills and the correct number of bicycles to own is N+1 in any case. I'll add the obligatory comment about being allowed to spend your own money on yourself although I know that's much easier to tell than it is to hear and get properly into your own head. So call it a hobby, a learning experience or whatever seems good and take the fun you've already had with it and add that to the fun you're going to have with it either riding it yourself or sharing it with others. There's little so lovely as riding the bike you cleaned up yourself. Sounds like a bargain to me. A BARGAIN I TELLS YER!
