I was going to come-up with a witty response to that question but it just didn’t come.
My housemate and I have a plethora of Modems. Or Routers if you want to be pedantic. So we’re selling our excess stock! Buy one, get one for a similar price! Get a spare modem for a rainy day (especially if the rain drips on your existing modem causing it to release the magic smoke and die with a crackle of components).
Anyway, the ads are on Gumtree here:
- Belkin 801.11g modem – $20
- Netgear cable voice gateway emta cvg824g v3 – S40
- D-link wireless adsl2+ router – $40
- D-Link wireless ADSL modem – $40
The insistence of internet service providers (ISPs) to provide a modem with every single account you get is verging on the bizarre. This might be useful for first-time users, adopters of alternate technology (cable versus ADSL), but for me it’s become a nightmare of hardware and cabling that I’ve simply had enough of.
Everything must go! Closing down Sale! Insert another immaterial adjective here.
